Horned dinosaurs also lived in Europe

27.05.2010

So far the fossil record of horned dinosaurs (Ceratopsians) was restricted to the Late Cretaceous of East Asia and western North America. Now an international research group including palaeontologist Richard J. Butler of the Bavarian State Collections of Palaeontology and Geology, Munich describes a new species of Late Cretaceous Ceratopsia discovered in Hungary in the science magazine Nature this week. This finding proves a much wider geographic distribution of horned dinosaurs that previously appreciated.
